29 trips in six days and more than 300 volunteers at the locations: reporting on the past week

We’ve got the mood, aspirations, and team, so the reconstruction continues. Dobrobat volunteers keep tirelessly helping the victims with the urgent restoration of their homes. The warm and pleasant weather has also contributed to the faster reconstruction. So last week, the volunteers made 29 visits to the sites.
Volunteers cleared rubble and repaired roofs, walls, and windows in six country regions. More than 300 volunteers took part in the urgent reconstruction over the week.
In Kyiv region, the volunteers visited Zahaltsy, Demydiv, Irpin, and Hostomel. In Zahaltsy, a team of volunteers completed the restoration of the roof of a house where a woman, her daughter, and her young granddaughter live. Over the course of three visits, they restored the roof structure and completely replaced the damaged roof with a new one. The volunteers visited Demydiv every day. The village continues to implement the urgent restoration of the water tower: the walls, ceiling, and windows are being repaired.
The volunteers also responded to a request for help from a resident of Stoyanka. The house where the woman lives with her daughter, who has been disabled since childhood, was hit by shrapnel from an enemy “strike” on a neighboring house. As a result, the roof was constantly leaking due to the weather conditions. The Dobrobat team quickly replaced the damaged roof with a new one in just one visit.
They also visited Hostomel, where they cleared the rubble from a destroyed house where an elderly couple, their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson lived. A year ago, an enemy missile hit the home directly. As a result, it caught fire, and only the burnt walls remained. The Dobrobat team cleaned up the site: dismantled the walls, and started removing construction waste.
Volunteers of the Kharkiv Construction Battalion visited the Housing and Communal College of the Beketov National University of Urban Economy three times during the week. They helped to eliminate the consequences of the Russian rocket attack on the college. On the spot, they cleared the main entrance to the building of the direct hit and cleaned up the damage in places where special equipment could not reach. They also sorted and cleaned suitable bricks for further reconstruction. In addition, the volunteers continued to restore houses in Malynivka that were damaged by blast waves due to enemy shelling from multiple rocket launchers. This time, they urgently repaired the roof of an apartment building (this is the fourth house that volunteers are restoring in the village), replacing the damaged roof with a new slate. Six families will return to the village after the reconstruction.
Soldiers of the Sumy Battalion continue to clear the wreckage of a multi-story building in Trostyanets destroyed by enemy shelling. They are currently cleaning the upper floors, which are the most damaged. Two more floors remain to be dismantled, which is about 24 apartments. Volunteers of the Romny branch keep tirelessly repairing the home of a large family. They spent two days at the site to strengthen the roof trusses, dismantle the damaged ceiling and replace the beams. They also cleared the rooms of rubbish.
In the Mykolaiv region, volunteers also repaired roofs in homes and installed windows in a school. In Prybuzke, they restored the top of a resident’s house, which enemy shell fragments had damaged. Dobrobat team dismantled the damaged roof and protective film, repaired the crate, and fixed the new slate. The volunteers preserved the house in the village of Lupareve for further reconstruction. They set a temporary frame, covered the roof with a protective tarp, and boarded the broken windows. The volunteers also began replacing windows in one of the town’s schools; the enemy S-300s smashed its windows. The team has ambitious plans to install more than 150 new windows. The school’s first floor has already been equipped, and the installation on the second floor has begun.
Volunteers from Zaporizhzhia Construction Battalion spent four days in a row helping the affected residents of the high-rise buildings that were shelled by russian missiles on 22 March. Teams of volunteers boarded up the shattered windows with OSB boards in neighboring houses, and the entrances suffered from “strikes.” In addition, volunteers worked with utility workers to clear the surrounding areas of debris.
In Kherson region, teams of volunteers visited Posad-Pokrovske twice. First, they cleared rubble and debris from a house destroyed by enemy air strikes. They also cleaned the site of an older woman’s destroyed home. Earlier, the volunteers had already cleared the debris from a summer kitchen. This week, they cleaned up the destruction of the house and cleared sheds and other damaged buildings.
