The urgent restoration of houses in seven regions of the country: Dobrobat presents a weekly report on the reconstruction

The winter has already started, but Dobrobat still makes it hot. After all, there is no stop button in helping others. Volunteers do not slow down for a moment, and full of inspiration, they urgently restore the country, supporting those affected. Last week, about 260 volunteers worked in seven regions: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv.
In the Kyiv oblast, they restored a house in Velyka Dymerka, where a woman with three young children and a mother lives. A missile “strike” destroyed the barn, garage and summer kitchen, blew off the roof of the house and smashed the windows. The volunteers repaired the roof, covered it with new bitumen shingles and replaced the broken windows with new metal-plastic ones. In Kozarovychi, the volunteers keep urgently restoring an 8-apartment house. The volunteers have already visited the location seven times and significantly repaired the roof. They also visited Vyshhorod, where russians shelled high-rise buildings on November 23 during another massive missile attack. Earlier, a group of volunteers eliminated the destruction at the site of the hit and then filled the broken windows in the house with OSB boards. In addition, they helped the owners of the apartments to get the surviving things by dismantling the rubble.
In addition, volunteers responded to a request for help from residents of the Krasne village, Chernihiv region. The village was not occupied but became a line of defence, which resulted in dozens of destroyed houses. In Krasne, the Dobrobat volunteers of the Kyiv branch repaired two houses. In one, they repaired part of the roof, dismantling the damaged slate and replacing it with a new one. In the second, they thoroughly cleaned the roof of broken slate and mounted 150 square meters of ondulin. The volunteers of the Chernihiv construction battalion tirelessly continue to repair houses. In Yahidne, they helped with interior works in houses and mounted a porch in one of the houses. In Ivanivka, they repaired the roof of a house, dismantled the old roof and covered it with metal roof sheets.
Dobrobat volunteers of the Sumy and Romny branches again joined the rubble removal in Okhtyrka city council. Volunteers, residents, rescuers and public utility services dismantled the retaining walls of the first and second floors of the building using special equipment. Also, they cleaned the territory of construction debris. Currently, all building structures that are in critical condition have been dismantled.
Volunteers from Kharkiv also keep the reconstruction front. This week they visited one of the city’s kindergartens and the Kharkiv Children and Youth Club of Sailors. In the premises of educational institutions destroyed due to shelling by russian troops, they covered the broken windows with OSB boards.
In Mykolaiv, the volunteers helped to dismantle a house from the rubble so that the repair specialists could connect it to the heating system. Women with their children live in the house. Due to the destruction, the house has been without electricity, water supply and heating for about a month. So, the volunteers also repaired the windows and doors, covered them with film and repaired the roof to warm the house. They also helped an elderly couple from the village of Shevchenkove to clear the house of debris. An enemy cluster bomb completely burned down the family’s house. Now the man and woman have to spend the night in the basement because only the house walls are in place. Volunteers dismantled the remains of the roof, prepared the walls for repair work and covered them with a film to protect them from rain and snow. They mounted a roof in the room where the elderly residents prepared food. In addition, they visited Mykolaiv Polytechnic College five times. On the premises of the educational institution, volunteers keep repairing the roof destroyed by enemy “strikes” of S-300 missile systems. Currently, they have dismantled the broken slate and covered part of the roof with film.
The liberated Kherson region also comes back to life, despite constant ruscists shelling. Last week a group of volunteers helped residents of two houses in Zelenivka. One of them has already suffered twice from enemy “strikes”. This time, the destruction was more significant, so the owners turned to Dobrobat for help. The volunteers covered the house with a tarp and repaired the destroyed roof. And in the neighbouring house, which suffered from the blast wave, they covered the broken windows with film.
Volunteers of the Zaporizhzhia centre, thanks to the announced fundraising for the restoration of the roof in one of the city houses where an elderly couple lives, raised about 10 thousand UAH. So, they repaired the roof and insulated it. In addition, they fixed the windows and connected a gas boiler.
