The volunteers repaired residential buildings, a university, a community cultural center, an art school and removed rubble: about the week of reconstruction by Dobrobat

Although the winter, air raids and power outages influence the reconstruction, Dobrobat volunteers steadfastly do their work. After all, those who once take responsibility, cannot live without helping others.

Thus, more than 200 volunteers joined the country's urgent reconstruction last week. They worked in five regions of the country.

In Irpin, Kyiv region, Dobrobat had been repairing the roof of a private house for four days. The house, where a pensioner and his son's family lived, burned down after a direct hit. The volunteers made a new roof frame, installed gables and other components and covered the roof with slate. Next, they plan to install windows and entrance doors.

They continued urgent restoration of Demydivka community culture center in which the roof and windows were shattered by blast waves. Almost every day, teams of volunteers went to the facility and replaced broken windows with new ones. In addition, they built a blockpost structure which then was handed over to military men in Demydovo. It will serve as a shelter for the defenders while on duty.

Sumy and Romny construction battalions helped in Okhtyrka and Lebedyn. In particular, they continued to repair the damage done to the building of Okhtyrka art school. Earlier, the volunteers dismantled damaged structures and last week they replaced window blocks. The volunteers of Romny branch dismantled the rubble of the destroyed transport station in Lebedyn. They removed the destroyed maintenance unit and cleaned the remaining bricks of cement to use them for further reconstruction.

Mykolaiv volunteers urgently repaired two houses of the victims in Ochakiv. In one of the houses, where a man and his daughter live, the roof, ceiling and windows were damaged. The Dobrobat team built a roof frame, sewed up the ceiling with OSB panels, insulated the roof, covered it with slate and repaired the windows. They also repaired the damaged ceiling in the basement by covering it with a metal profile. In another house, where a single woman lives, they repaired all the broken beams on the roof and replaced the broken slate with the new one. In Lyman, volunteers were urgently restoring the roof of an apartment building. They replaced the slate that had been damaged by shrapnel, installed a ridge and patched more than a hundred holes in the roof.

Kherson volunteers went on urgently restoring one of the city educational institutions. For three days in a row, they had been clearing classrooms and buildings of construction debris and glass. Then they covered the windows with protective sheeting to prevent rain and snow from destroying the premises. Totally, they fixed over fifty windows. They also helped a woman living in a private house in Kherson. She has remained almost the only resident in her street who stays at home. Thus, the volunteers covered the broken windows of her house with OSB panels.

In Zaporizhzhia, volunteers spent two days repairing windows in two multi-storey buildings. Both of them were damaged by an enemy missile attack. Dobrobat volunteers covered the windows in the entrances of the buildings with OSB panels. In Stepne village, they helped a family whose house was destroyed on the New Year’s Eve. The house was heavily damaged. Volunteers urgently repaired the roof to save the rest of the house. In addition, they mounted wooden floor structures and covered the roof with protective sheeting.
