We invite you to join the ranks of the Kherson construction battalion “Dobrobat” and present a weekly report on the reconstruction.

We sincerely rejoice at the success of our defenders and the liberation of Kherson from the russian occupation. Ukrainian soldiers demonstrate strength and power. We adopt their fighting spirit and follow our mission, holding the frontline of reconstruction. Therefore, Dobrobat launched the Kherson Construction Battalion to help residents of the region to restore their destroyed homes. We invite everyone who wants to support Kherson residents as much as Ukrainians have been waiting for the liberation of this region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to join the battalion.
Meanwhile, last week urgent restoration continued in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions. More than 300 volunteers visited the locations and eliminated the consequences of enemy shelling. In Ivankiv, Kyiv region, our volunteers had been arranging a reliable shelter in the local hospital for eight days so that the medical institution’s patients and staff could protect themselves from possible enemy shelling. Our hero fighters never lacked enthusiasm, so it took them one day to mount a new roof on the house of a lonely older woman from Demydiv. They dismantled the destroyed roof, partially repaired the roofing and timber roof truss, covered it with onduline roof panels, wind girders and ridges, arranged the drainage system and completely replaced the old, shattered slate with a new one. They also quickly coped with the repair of the roof of a private house in Irpin.
Within four days, the team of the Kyiv battalion went to Dymer. Here they began the urgent restoration of the roof in a 5-storey building that suffered due to the russian occupation. In Velyka Dymerka and Makariv, motivated groups of 20 volunteers were dismantling the rubble of residents’ destroyed houses. In addition, volunteers cleared and cleaned the adjacent territory. In particular, in Velyka Dymerka, they helped a family with three children.
The urgent restoration of houses continues in Yahidne in Chernihiv region. Teams of 20 volunteers have been repairing roofs to help locals get their houses ready for winter.
In Sumy Oblast, volunteers cleared the rubble of destroyed homes from construction debris. They visited two locations in Okhtyrka. In particular, they cleaned the private sector that suffered from enemy attacks and, together with the city’s municipal services, tidied the territory. Also, the Sumy battalion volunteers once again eliminated the consequences of the Okhtyrka City Council destruction, destroyed by ruscists. Together with the locals who joined them, they dismantled the building structures of the premises and prepared the beams and floor slabs for further dismantling.
The Kharkiv branch visited Staryi Saltiv in the Chuhuiv region and began the urgent restoration of the village lyceum. Before the full-scale war, it was a modern educational institution. After the russian occupation, only the walls, windows, and roof remained, and they needed to be restored. The Dobrobat volunteers aim to preserve the destroyed lyceum for the winter and start reconstruction in the spring. Together with the locals, they unscrewed the old roof covering and started dismantling the broken windows. They plan to cover the roof with a protective tarp and the windows with film and a bar. Moreover, volunteers continue to visit Kharkiv educational institutions and tirelessly cover the broken windows of the buildings with OSB boards.
We also have news from Mykolaiv. Here volunteers have repaired the roof in the house of an older woman. In her house, due to the enemy shell “strike”, an explosive wave completely demolished the roof. So two volunteers, a neighbour and the victim’s son began to build a new one. In less than four days, they dismantled, mounted two gables and covered the house with a new slate.
Incredible Ukrainians who become part of Dobrobat are an example to follow. After all, these people can do anything and, most importantly, have big hearts and the motivation to grow. So, the first volunteers listened to and then practised civil safety classes. Then, under the guidance of specialists from the Educational and Methodological Centre for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of Kyiv region, Dobrobat volunteers mastered three emergency modules. In particular, they considered the general provisions on emergencies, the use of personal protective equipment and the procedure for medical care provision. They received certificates for attending instructional classes from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
There are still many things ahead. But we are heading to Victory!
Together we can do so much more!
